I logged on to my PC this morning check mail to see if I have any "comments" to moderate on my Blog locations. A little to my surprise I saw that I had received a "visit" from someone in Shelbyville, Kentucky. Seeing someone from the United States is not in itself unusual as I have had about 20 people coming to take a glimpse, I would not say an actual read as I think they probably in most cases only stumbled across my Blog, much of which means nothing to them. However, they do 4% of my viewers, 84% of whom are form the UK with the remaining 12% coming from the rest of the world (But not Chad!!).
So, I had nothing better to do than take a closer look at Shelbyville , Kentucky via Wikipedia and what an interesting City is seems to be if only for dear old Colonel Sanders! But Shelbyville is worth more than that as it has a fine history dating back to the American Civil War.
Here is the Wiki Link to Shelbyville
I decided to take a look at where else these American visits were coming from and I was in for a surprise given the diversity of cities and states that popped up in my short search.

Of course, I had heard of Los Angeles, San Antonio, Austin, Minneapolis, Dallas and I have even been to New York (and Boston and Lnog Island and Westport, Connecticut) but the remainder of the cities made me think about those Hollywood movies about "small town" America which clearly was not representative of these other cities listed here. These in my list have fascinating names, Grand Rapids brings to mind a Western "cowboy" movie, while Mountain View a Alfred Hitchcock thriller. Then there is Lanesborough (or is it Lanesboro? - that's the spelling from the ISP) this name conjures up a place of wealth and Falls Church, ah yes, A Stephen King horror story. When I first went to America I flew into New York City and took an internal flight to Orange County, New York from there I took a cab (this was an experience that could only come from a movie - one day I will relate it) to Poughkeepsie, New York. Many years later we went on holiday to Boston and Long Island and when working for a company involved in the Year 2000 project (Millennia III) I went to Westport, Connecticut. I could have happily lived there as it was so much like parts of England that I would only have known I was in the USA by going to the "Inn on Main" (or was it the Tavern on Main?)..... in short I loved it there.
I apologise to you all for these unfounded fantasies, but I am in England after all and these images are no less "odd" than yours no doubt about England?
So, if any of your readers from these far off places wouldn't mind the next time you stumble across my blog, please leave a short comment (good OR bad).
