Mice –v- Tablets?

Since the beginning of the year I have been putting myself through a course of Photoshop lessons from CD’s that come with an excellent magazine called “Digital Photo”.  I have six copies so far and have already been having some, all be it, limited success with manipulating some of my photos.  One of the videos that I watched suggested that the technique the tutor was using to outline a part of a photograph could be better achieved using a tablet than a mouse and so, I was hooked on the idea.  Initially I could only find new Wacom Bamboo One tablets for sale at a price that was too high, for a potential failure such as I, to expend on the basis of a whim.  Off to Ebay I went and purchased a used tablet in such good condition that I would never have known the difference from a new one.

Wherever I read about using a tablet I found a recurring theme, “they take time to get used too”.  How true was that to be.  Anyway, I persevere with the little gadget and only revert to a mouse when I find I am making so many handling errors, shutting down sessions I never wanted to and dragging lines across photographs that were odd to say the least.

So far so good, I have had some really interesting results from both using the tablet and from my Photoshop lessons and despite my numerous errors with the tablet and stylus I am getting faster and more accurate every day.

Harrington1 copy Here is an example of both learning experiences, Photoshop and using my tablet!!

I think I am going to be  DUAL user though…………….It’s a Score Draw for me then!
