Among the abundance of garden birds that have populated our garden this year, many returning from their summer habitat, we have a new and most unusual visitor this year. A Green Woodpecker!!
Sadly, we have not seen the earlier woodpecker visitor from last year yet….. remember him?
So now we have in addition vast numbers of Chaffinches, Dunnocks, sparrows, Great Tits, Coal Tits, Long Tailed Tits, Starlings, Blackbirds, a Thrush, a Wren (only this morning but has been spotted a year or two ago but not since), Wood Pigeons (not sure if old “Edwin” is among them now), Greenfinch, Collard Doves, Blackcaps (but not here again yet), several Magpies and finally the fearsome Sparrow Hawk that arrived to devour our poor sparrows!
We wait to see what else will visit in what remains of this year.
