House hunting continues (we plan to rent now long term) with a “mature, trustworthy and reliable British couple (no pets – no children) being the searchers – who can they be I wonder? I think we sound better described in Spanish, which is “Pareja Británica, madura y fiable (no niños ni mascotas)”
Our colds…well let me tell you they have been the worst ever – well mine has!! I never thought it would go and I have been coughing now for about four weeks. I passed it to Val as a gift and now she wont forgive or even thank me. Mind you at this time of writing I do feel an urge now for a cigar and a rum so I must be on the mend.
We still have loads to do in terms of getting registered etc and buying the car – I will save that event for later - renting a house – telephone – TV set up for Sky – on it goes! Oh and yes, the most important one (after a place to live that is) is to join a Spanish class which we can do for free we are told but only when we have our residents certificate and NIE number.
Three little anecdotes:
Spanish policeman at the place where you get your NIE numbers and the Spanish renew their passports was heard to refuse entry to an Englishman because England was not in the EU. When asked how this was the case he said it was because in England they did not have euros, only pounds!
Second one, English woman (very much on ‘oliday in Eyebeefa” was at the ATM cursing a swearing because every time she said she wanted to use it in English it only dispensed “these ******** euros and they ain’t no use to me in England”
Finally, advert in a Spanish paper “Spanich lessons given to English people” – Hmmm
TTFN !!
