Gardening - My passion!

If you believe that then you are as crazy as I was when I thought I may be able to do a bit of gardening while I was here. However, gardening was never something I did willingly even when I had all the tools and a nice smooth (ish) lawn.

There are about 10 sq meters of rocky scrub here at the house that masquerade as a garden whilst the real bit of garden measures about 12 feet by 20 feet ( I don't do metres) and contains a number of quite nice roses, some hibiscus, a few geraniums and a lone bougainvillea, oh and a fig tree. I do little in the way of tidying and weeding this as I am not the expert so I leave it to "someone else". Its magical how it always looks to tidy! (I had contemplated using the flower bed as a place to plant the thieves if we ever caught them!)

Mind you it's only in the last couple of weeks that we managed to identify the "weed" that was sprouting all on its own in the flower bed and were getting close to dragging it out of the ground when we managed to stumble on an identical plant and yes, it was a bougainvillea. It is now safe from the rubbish tip.

I started out here doing some basic weed clearance around the house simply keeping paths free and the major weeds hacked out with a nice tool that we have here. But after the robbery I lost interest in the weeds and concentrated on security. One day though I noticed that the little weeds I used to grub out from alongside the house had grown to massive proportions with stalks now as thick as your thumb and standing about 5 foot tall and providing an ideal cover for any other would be robbers who may stumble across the house. Dealing with this was a nightmare as the weeds had become well established at root level but I am pleased to say that they are now clear. V however is not happy with my "weed clearance" and "thinning" of the Herb garden which I undertook with such vigour that there are now no signs of growth at all, no weeds and no herb!

So this is what I have decided NOT to tackle...

What a grand job for a dedicated gardener with a JCB!!

The rest.... plus Jeeves Helping out!
