We are sitting on our terrace, at the side or back of the house depending on your view, sunbathing and doing the crossword when it suddenly occurred to me that there was an overpowering "Ibiza silence" - that is to say all we could hear was the breeze rustling the bamboo on the edge of the terrace, some small birds twittering away and the cacophony from the hundreds of cicadas that populate this area. We see them everywhere at times and then just as we are forgetting them they start their noise which rises until it overpowers us. Suddenly, silence! Not a sound, no birds, wind, cars or cicadas just a slight rustle. Paradise - we will miss much of this but it will never ever be the same.
